Job summary

Leonteq AG is seeking a Compliance/Onboarding Specialist in Lisbon to manage counterparty onboardings, KYC/AML matters, and regulatory compliance for European clients. You will work with Sales and other departments to ensure accurate documentation and adherence to EU requirements.

The role requires a degree in Law, Compliance, Finance or related field and 3–5 years in the financial sector, with strong analytical and communication skills. English is essential; additional languages are a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Law, Compliance, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in financial compliance, audit or advisory roles.
• Strong knowledge of EU/European financial markets laws and onboarding/KYC/AML requirements.
• Proactive, responsible, team-player with ability to work under pressure.
• Fluent in English; French/German/Italian a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage counterparty onboardings, client documentation and KYC/AML for Leonteq Securities (Europe) GmbH.
• Perform due diligence and clarifications on complex cases, including PEPs.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and European regulations; assess new regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with Sales and Relationship Officers; provide onboarding guidance across departments.
• Prepare internal notes and assessments on onboarding, KYC, client docs and AML issues.
• Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements; participate in projects and tool testing.
• Maintain documentation and lifecycle management of relationships; respond to audits and regulator requests.

What you'll do

• Handling of counterparty onboardings, client documentation, KYC and AML-related matters for Leonteq Securities (Europe) GmbH;
• Handling of corresponding due diligence procedures, incl. KYC/AML-related clarifications and assessments in terms of sensitive and complex cases (e.g. PEP-related and/or other higher risk factors); clarifications with regards to client documentation requirements;
• Adherence to respective internal policies and applicable external regulatory requirements in Europe/EU. Assessment of (new) new regulatory requirements where needed;
• Daily interaction with Sales/Relationship Officers; provision of guidance regarding onboarding, KYC and client documentation topics. Frequent interaction with further stakeholders (within the same and other departments) to ensure alignment and effective communication;
• Preparation of internal notes/assessments on onboarding/KYC/client documentation/AML-related issues;
• Identification of operational inefficiencies, recommendation on improvements and implementation of such, where appropriate;
• Involvement in different projects, e.g. assessments on new business models, input for and testing of new software tools etc.;
• Documentation and life cycle management of relationships;
• Responsibility regarding audit and/or regulator requests, including corresponding fieldwork (preparation of files, discuss queries, findings, remediation action etc.).

What you'll need

• Degree in Law, Compliance, Finance, Business Administration or a related field;
• At least 3-5 years of experience in the financial industry in Compliance, Audit, Consulting or a similar function, preferably in B2B onboarding;
• Strong knowledge of European/EU financial markets laws and regulation; in particular regarding those which are of relevance in terms of Onboarding/Client Documentation/KYC/AML-related matters;
• Dedicated personality with strong team-player attitude and willingness to take responsibility, hands-on attitude;
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communicative skills;
• Ability to take initiative and to work autonomously and under pressure in a fast-paced environment, manage own goals and set priorities;
• Fluent in English; additional language skills in French and/or German and/or Italian;
• Experience with compliance tools (e.g. World Check One is a plus), good MS Office Skills.
