Job summary

PwC Services Portugal (PSP) is seeking a Business Valuation Senior Associate to join our Matosinhos team. You will perform valuation analyses across private equity, debt, real assets and intangibles to support audit and advisory engagements, while challenging methodologies and assumptions.

The role offers exposure to the Alternatives sector and a dedicated learning pathway to advance as a valuation professional.

Qualifications

• 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar valuation role.
• Advanced valuation techniques: income, market, and asset-based approaches.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Perform valuation analyses and reviews of assets to support audit and assurance engagements.
• Review valuation methodologies, key assumptions and financial models for reasonableness.
• Exposure to advisory engagements across the Alternatives sector (valuation, data analytics, benchmarking).
• Participate in the Valuation Learning Pathway to grow as a valuation professional.

Business Valuation Senior Associate

PwC Services Portugal (PSP) is a joint venture between PwC Luxembourg and PwC Portugal, serving as an integral extension of PwC Luxembourg. Our growing team operates as an acceleration center supporting PwC Luxembourg’s clients. Leveraging a unique pool of talented professionals based in Matosinhos, our operating model ensures scalability, consistency, and quality in service delivery by integrating seamlessly into PwC Luxembourg’s operations and addressing talent attraction challenges sustainably.

PSP provides a range of services, including Assurance Audit (spanning all industries, with a particular focus on Real Estate and Private Equity), Broader Assurance Services, Tax (including Managed Services, Corporate Tax, VAT, and Accounting), and Advisory (specializing in the Global Fund Industry).

Be a part of our team of solvers where you will (specific responsibilities include but are not limited to):

• Perform valuation analysis and reviews of a wide spectrum of assets (Private Equity, Private Debt; Infrastructure, Real Estate, Venture Capital and Intangible assets) to support audit and assurance engagements, including assessing fair value measurements for financial reporting purposes;
• Review and challenge valuation methodologies, key assumptions and financial models to assess the reasonableness of management's estimates;
• While the role is primarily focused on assurance & audit related valuation analysis, you will also have opportunities for exposure to advisory engagements across the Alternatives industry such as valuation, process implementation and review, data analytics and benchmarking;

Let’s talk about you. If you are/have …

• 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role;
• Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of valuation principles and techniques (income, market, and asset based approach) with regards to business valuation;
• Strong analytical skills, problem solver, detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, autonomous and enjoying working in a multi-cultural environment;
• Ability to research and analyse pertinent client, industry, and financial matters, while demonstrating strong technical and analytical skills;
• Being flexible when adapting to changing client needs and market conditions;
• Ability to manage multiple threads of tasks and / or engagements;
• Proven ability to mentor and guide junior team members, and contribute to a collaborative team environment;
• Sound knowledge of recognized valuation guidelines, such as IPEV guidelines or IVS;
• Sound knowledge of industry software’s and tools (i.e. Bloomberg, S&P CapIQ, and/or advanced Excel modelling);
• Knowledge of option pricing models;
• Fluency in English, both written and verbally.
