Job summary

Stratio, Portugal-based, seeks a Backend Software Engineer to help shape server-side systems, build and scale our platform and vehicle information database, and deliver reliable, cost-efficient services in an agile landscape.

You will focus on the remote tachograph data download project, implementing REST/JSON APIs with .NET Core, designing scalable architecture, and upholding quality, security, and performance while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of C# and .NET Core.
• Experience with SQL Server and relational databases.
• Understanding of software design and architecture.
• Familiarity with SDLC processes.
• Fluent in English.

Backend Software Engineer (f/m/d)

As a Backend Software Engineer, you are responsible for curating the structure of server-side information. This means developing, maintaining and scaling up our platform and our vehicle information database, ensuring its reliability, scalability, performance and cost‑effectiveness. Be ready to be part of a highly innovative team, always searching for new technologies and standards to keep improving our technological stack in an agile environment.

You will be part of our Software team, where multiple cross‑functional and self‑organised teams work together to create robust and innovative solutions that increase the value, efficiency and reliability of our web and mobile applications.

As a Backend Software Engineer you will

• Participate in the specification of new features and improvements, supporting our Product Owner;
• Implement and maintain core services with business logic, serving REST/JSON APIs implemented with .NET Core;
• Design and implement the software architecture to support high availability and horizontal scalability;
• Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance;
• Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high‑scale web environment.
• Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.

This role is dedicated exclusively to our remote tachograph data download project, so all of your day‑to‑day work will centre on building, running, and improving the systems that retrieve, process, and manage tachograph data remotely.

This is what we believe is needed for this role

• Strong technical background with a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or similar relevant fields;
• Strong knowledge of C#;
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly SQL Server;
• Knowledge of software design and architecture;
• Understanding of various coding methods and computer languages;
• Knowledge of software development life‑cycle processes;
• Reliability and great problem‑solving skills, with great attention to detail;
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Fluency in English.

• This role can be performed Remotely in Portugal, or hybrid/office in Coimbra, Portugal.

Regardless of the arrangement, availability to attend in‑person meetings at our Coimbra office is expected when required. A minimum average of once every month should be expected.
