Tailored resume and cover letter, ready to send.
Stratio seeks an Embedded Systems Engineer to own firmware for the Databox, interfacing software with hardware to convert vehicle data into actionable insights. You’ll work on multi-threaded C/C++ firmware near the hardware, collaborating with hardware engineers and QA to ensure reliability and performance.
You will translate product requirements into robust designs, debug across hardware and software layers, and contribute to tooling, documentation, and test infrastructure while maintaining
Stratio keeps public transport running. We monitor fleet health in real time and tell the world's largest operators exactly what's going to fail before it does.
Stratio keeps public transport running. We monitor fleet health in real time and tell the world's largest operators exactly what's going to fail before it does.
You’ll join our Embedded Systems & Hardware team, the people behind Stratio’s Databox: the device at the heart of Stratio's zero-downtime mission.
You'll build and own the firmware that runs on the Databox, the device that turns what happens inside a vehicle into the data our AI depends on.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of software and hardware, developing C/C++ firmware on a multi-threaded RTOS, handling automotive communication protocols, hardware bring-up, and test infrastructure.
This role is dedicated to our remote tachograph data download project, so your day-to-day work will centre on building, running, and improving the systems that retrieve, process, and manage tachograph data remotely.
You build and debug C/C++ firmware running on the Databox's RTOS, taking features from idea to implementation with solid design patterns and a say in the architectural decisions behind them.
You translate product requirements into technical designs, working closely with the team and the stakeholders who depend on what you build.
You debug on target, using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and CAN/serial-to-USB tools, and you work hands-on with automotive communication protocols such as J1939 and J1587.
You also support hardware bring-up and design alongside our hardware team.
You review code and take part in design discussions, giving and receiving feedback as a matter of routine.
You help improve our development processes, tools and test infrastructure, and you document your work across the firmware lifecycle.
What we're looking for
Not an application-level role, and not a purely software one. This is real-time, multi-threaded firmware close to the hardware, so expect to spend real time at the bench on bring-up and debugging, and to help decide what gets built, not just implement someone else's spec.
You'd write firmware that leaves the building, the Databox runs on real commercial vehicles, for customers paying for it to work. And you'd follow a problem the whole way: from an architectural decision, to the code on the RTOS, to a logic analyzer on the bench with the hardware team.
According to our internal progression framework, as a mid, you will be expected to:
We expect you to work in our Coimbra office once a week. This regularity is an average and should be adjusted to your and company needs.
Validate the cultural fit between you and Stratio and make sure you’re the person we’re looking for to help us build a #zerodowntimefuture.
Every decision about your application is made by a person from the hiring team. These tools assist our hiring team, they don't replace them.
Stratio delivers condition monitoring and predictive maintenance technology that powers a zero downtime future for transportation.
More than 1.3B people travel each year in vehicles using Stratio’s technology. The distance covered every day is remarkable, equal to 50 full journeys around the planet. Behind the scenes, more than 250 thousand maintenance predictions are generated daily, turning potential failures into planned interventions and keeping services running smoothly.
We want inspiring individuals in our teams, where age, race, gender, sexual orientation, politics and religion do not matter, and seek to create a tolerant and open space for everyone. We thrive to provide an inclusive and trustworthy environment.
