Job summary

Verified Metrics is a growing fintech company building software for financial analysis and due diligence in Lisbon, Portugal. An Associate Software Engineer will work closely with our CTO and engineers to build, test, and improve our product.

You'll contribute to real features and production systems, take ownership of tasks, and learn from experienced engineers while expanding your skills with new tools and technologies.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in software development with production systems experience.
• Good understanding of debugging, testing, and writing maintainable code.
• Interest in functional programming with practical experience preferred.
• Experience or openness to using AI coding tools in development workflow.
• Ability to work independently on defined tasks and ask for guidance when needed.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and collaborate with a team.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and maintain features across backend services, APIs, and data model.
• Take ownership of tasks from requirements through implementation and delivery.
• Write clear, reliable, and maintainable code following team standards.
• Identify and fix bugs, improve existing code, and keep systems reliable.
• Learn and work with Clojure, Datomic, and supporting tools and infrastructure.
• Use AI coding tools as part of the development workflow, review AI-generated code for quality.
• Collaborate with the CTO and engineers to discuss approaches and improvements.
• Ask questions, seek feedback, and share ideas to improve product quality.
