Job summary

KWAN is seeking an Application Support Engineer (L3) to operate in Lisbon in a hybrid model (3x per week in the office). The role focuses on investigating and resolving production incidents at L3 level, understanding applications end-to-end, and collaborating with development teams to fix root causes.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in application/production support, strong SQL, Linux shell skills, and fluent English (B2+). The position offers a dynamic culture and opportunities for growth.

• Strong SQL skills (SELECT, JOINs, subqueries).
• English at least B2.

• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to change.
• Nice to have: observability tools like Grafana or ELK Stack, and scripting in Bash or Python.

What is this challenge about

• Investigate and resolve production incidents at L3 level, making sure the root cause is properly identified.
• Understand how applications work end to end, from functional documentation and business rules to following a transaction across multiple components.
• Dig into complex issues through log analysis, database queries and metrics.
• Define meaningful metrics for early problem detection and spot recurring failure patterns, proposing preventive actions.
• Work alongside development teams to fix problems at their source.
• Document findings and share knowledge with the team.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years of experience in application support or production support
• Comfortable working with the Linux shell (grep, awk, sed, tail, ps, top) and navigating the filesystem
• Solid SQL skills (selects, joins, subqueries)
• Solid English skills (B2 or higher)
• Strong analytical thinking and a structured, logical approach to problem-solving
• Clear communication and the ability to collaborate across teams
• Critical thinking and a prevention-oriented mindset
• Autonomy, ownership and perseverance when facing complex problems
• Fast learner, comfortable with change and new technologies
