HumanIT Digital Consulting in Lisbon is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design, build and productionize AI applications and agents using Azure AI services. This hybrid Lisbon role requires hands-on GenAI development and strong coding practices.

You will collaborate with central AI teams and local business units, implement robust retrieval, tool-use and orchestration, and ensure production readiness. Compensation ranges €2,250–€2,950 net per month.

Qualifications

Senior-level experience in software engineering.
Strong skills in Python and SQL.
Experience building GenAI applications, assistants, agents or AI-enabled workflow automation.
Hands-on experience with Azure AI services, Azure AI Foundry or comparable AI platforms.
Solid understanding of RAG, prompt and context engineering, tool calling, evaluation, orchestration and responsible production operation of AI systems.
Experience with APIs, cloud-native services, data pipelines and enterprise integration patterns.
Comfortable with GenAI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or OpenCode.
English: B2 (Upper Intermediate) minimum.

AI Engineer (Python/Azure AI) - Hybrid Lisbon (1-2 days/week office)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join the central AI team of a leading European parcel logistics group, where technology sits behind every delivery: more than 905 million parcels handled across subsidiaries and partners in 40 countries and over 1,600 locations. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will design, build and productionize AI applications, agents and intelligent workflow components that move the organization from experiments to AI products that work at scale. This is a hands on engineering role for someone who wants to ship real products, not isolated demos.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You will work at the intersection of software engineering, GenAI, data, cloud and business process automation. You will support both the Central AI team and local business teams across countries. Azure is the primary platform, especially Microsoft AI services and Azure AI Foundry. Selected open-source and cloud-agnostic frameworks are also used to keep the stack flexible.

Your responsibilities:

Build AI applications, assistants, agents and workflow automation components using modern GenAI engineering patterns
Design and implement integrations with Azure AI services, Azure AI Foundry, APIs, enterprise systems, data platforms and internal tools
Develop retrieval, tool-use, orchestration, evaluation, monitoring and guardrail components for production AI solutions

Work model: hybrid. The office is in the Lisbon area (Venda do Pinheiro, Mafra region). You start with 1-2 office days per week, which can be reduced to 1-2 days per month.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

Senior-level experience in software engineering
Strong skills in Python and SQL
Experience building GenAI applications, assistants, agents or AI-enabled workflow automation
Hands-on experience with Azure AI services, Azure AI Foundry or comparable AI platforms

Compensation: €2,250 – €2,950/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
