A Devoteam procura um Senior Backend Engineer (Python) para a equipa Nearshore do Porto, Portugal, em regime híbrido a tempo inteiro. Vai colaborar com uma fintech sediada no Reino Unido para desenhar plataformas de verificação de conformidade de alto desempenho desde o zero.

Responsabilidades: desenhar, construir e manter REST APIs em Python, garantir arquitetura do core do produto, processar dados em tempo real, otimizar bases de dados relacionais e apoiar CI/CD num ambiente ágil orientado

Qualificações

• 5+ anos de experiência profissional em backend
• 3+ anos de Python com foco em produção
• Fundações sólidas em sistemas distribuídos e processamento assíncrono
• Experiência em APIs REST bem desenhadas e com boas performances
• Conhecimento de modelação de bases relacionais (PostgreSQL/MySQL) e desempenho de queries
• Confortável com ambientes Cloud e pipelines CI/CD
• Experiência com ferramentas de streaming (Kafka/Pub/Sub) é desejável

Responsabilidades

• Desenhar, construir e manter REST APIs em Python de alto desempenho
• Assumir a arquitetura do core do produto end-to-end
• Desenvolver camadas de ingestão de dados, web scraping e parsing em tempo real
• Arquitetar fluxos de trabalho distribuídos com processamento assíncrono e filas
• Gerir modelos de bases de dados relacionais sob carga elevada
• Colaborar num ambiente Ágil com práticas de engenharia e entrega contínua

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to join our Nearshore delivery team in Porto, Portugal (Hybrid / Full-time).

In this role, you will work closely with an innovative UK-based fintech startup (founded by former builders from Revolut, Square, and SumUp) to shape, design, and architect high-performance compliance and business verification platforms from scratch.

Key Responsibilities :

Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable customer-facing REST APIs and backend services using Python.

Own core product architecture end-to-end, ensuring high availability, performance, and stringent security standards.

Develop high-performance data ingestion, web scraping, and parsing layers to process real-time data.

Architect distributed system workflows, including asynchronous processing, queues, pub / sub mechanisms, and event-driven architectures.

Manage and optimize relational database models (PostgreSQL / MySQL) under high load.

Collaborate in an agile, product-minded engineering environment, shipping code frequently and driving technical best practices.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with a proven track record of owning systems end-to-end in production.

3+ years of strong hands‑on experience with Python (or a similar backend language with total willingness to work primarily in Python).

Strong fundamentals in distributed systems : asynchronous processing, message queues, pub / sub, idempotency, retries, and eventual consistency.

Solid experience designing and versioning clean, developer-friendly RESTful APIs.

Advanced knowledge of relational database modeling and query performance (PostgreSQL or MySQL).

Comfortable working in Cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with CI / CD deployment pipelines.

Nice to Have :

Experience developing scalable web scrapers and data parsing pipelines.

Prior experience in regulated / security-sensitive domains (Fintech, KYC / AML, Fraud, Compliance).

Familiarity with stream processing technologies (Kafka, Pub / Sub, Dataflow, Flink).

Exposure to low‑level languages like Rust, Go, or C++ for performance‑critical tasks.
