Every inspection starts with the turbine. You agree the stop with the wind farm staff, stop and secure the turbine following the manufacturer’s and the client’s procedures, climb to the nacelle and position the blades for the flight. After the inspection you return the turbine to operation. We do this a dozen or more times a day, so speed, order and safety matter.
Between climbs you support the pilot: you prepare equipment, act as an observer during the flight, help with LPS measurements and keep the area around the turbine safe. We work in two-person teams that operate the turbine on their own.
Nacelle, height and travel
This job means regular climbs to the nacelle, often several or a dozen a day, and frequent travel. We say it openly, because the people who enjoy it stay with us.
- 80–170 m the height of the nacelle you work in
- 10+ turbines a day in a good weather window
- 10 European countries where we work
- 100% of travel costs covered by the company
- You reach the nacelle by service lift or ladder, in full protective equipment. You need physical fitness and a medical certificate for work at height.
- You operate turbines from different manufacturers (including Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE, Nordex and Enercon) following their procedures.
- Trips last from a few days to a few weeks, in Poland and abroad. Lodging, car and per diems are provided by the company.
- You work when the weather allows: early starts, field work in every season, sometimes at weekends.
- Agreeing turbine stops with the wind farm staff and client; working to LOTO procedures and manufacturer instructions.
- Stopping, securing and restarting the turbine; positioning the rotor and blades for inspection.
- Climbing to the nacelle and working at height with personal protective equipment.
- Supporting the drone pilot: preparing equipment, acting as observer, radio contact, securing the flight area.
- Helping with LPS continuity measurements.
- Initial visual assessment of turbine components and reporting any defects you spot.
- Work records, checking protective equipment and tools.
- Driving the company car on trips.
