Job summary

Vonage is seeking a Staff Engineer in Łódź, Poland, to lead the RNE group within Foundation Engineering. You will shape architecture of cloud-native backend systems and influence engineering culture across the team.

You will own major architectural decisions, drive scalability, and mentor engineers while collaborating with product leadership to align technical strategy with business goals. On-call duties apply.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering scalable backend systems.
• Experience with Go or JVM ecosystems and modern tooling.
• Ability to mentor and lead across teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and vision for the design and development of highly concurrent, distributed backend systems.
• Drive and own significant architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability and maintainability across the platform.
• Lead performance optimisation initiatives and resolve the most complex system-level challenges.
• Set the standard for testing practices, including Unit, Integration and Smoke tests, enabling fully automated promotion of code to production.
• Define, evolve and enforce coding standards and engineering best practices across the team.
• Act as a technical mentor and leader, supporting the growth of engineers at all levels.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business goals.
• Provide out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rota.
