The Senior System Administrator is responsible for maintaining, designing, migrating and upgrading system configurations across our diverse IT environment. This includes managing Windows servers, VMware ESXi, Azure platform, and several other critical components. This role demands a deep understanding of systems administration, virtualization, and cloud technologies to ensure optimal performance and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, implement, and maintain Windows servers across multiple sites.
- Manage Microsoft Exchange on‑premises, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Intune.
- Understand backups, recovery, and system upgrades.
- Work with Windows Server 2016 to 2022 roles and features.
- Understand Remote Desktop Services (RDS) CAL service.
- Administer VMware ESXi infrastructure, including setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting.
- Manage Azure cloud resources and services, ensuring cost‑effectiveness, security, and scalability.
- Implement and manage Azure Virtual Desktop and Horizon VDI components.
- Work with hyperconverged infrastructure such as Nutanix, VxRail, Azure Stack, etc.
- Manage and maintain the Active Directory Domain Controller, including users, groups, OUs, and permissions.
- Manage and maintain all Windows Server services such as DNS, DHCP, WSUS, FTP, SFTP, WDS.
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot Group Policies to enforce company security and operational standards.
- Handle tasks using tools such as AD Manager, AD Audit, AD Sync, etc.
- Perform Active Directory and related services health checks.
- Understand, implement, and manage the Certificate Authority infrastructure.
- Maintain and administer MFA (Multi‑Factor Authentication) to bolster system and data security.
- Possess general understanding of networking core concepts and participate in general issues.
- Regularly monitor system logs and alerts to maintain system health and security.
- Maintain availability of PAM (Privileged Access Management) and understand its core components.
- Work on vulnerability remediation for Windows Server OS, services, Nutanix, VMware, etc.
Requirements
Who you are
- 5 to 7 years of prior experience in an IT support position.
- Strong working knowledge of PowerShell scripting or any automation tools and scripts.
- Understanding of core concepts of cloud services such as Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Azure AD, SharePoint.
- Excellent knowledge of server administration, patch management, and OS‑specific debugging tools.
- Good understanding of monitoring systems such as PRTG, SCOM, SolarWinds.
- Provide technical hands‑on support at an L3 level for incident and request management, including resolution of escalated incidents, problems or changes from L1 support.
- Responsible for problem management and root cause analysis for repeated incidents or outages.
- Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment.
- Good understanding of ITIL processes and tools such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, SCSM, ManageEngine, etc.
- Responsible for on‑call support outside office hours, including emergencies and routine maintenance windows.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and expertise to junior staff members.
- Collaborate with other departments and vendors for system integration and upgrades.
- Document procedures, configurations, and instructional guides for the team.
