Job summary

Moderna is expanding its Warsaw international business services hub and seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Developer Platform Engineering team. You will design, build, and govern secure, scalable platform capabilities enabling engineering teams to develop, deploy, and operate software efficiently.

Lead cross-functional initiatives across cloud infrastructure, automation, and AI-enabled development, delivering reusable paved-road templates and secure-by-default environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, developer tooling, infrastructure automation, or a related role.
• Strong software engineering experience building developer platforms, internal tools, CI/CD, secure development environments, or secure software delivery.
• Strong programming in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, CI/CD workflows, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud provider for deploying applications or platform services.
• Experience with Docker, devcontainers, containerized apps, or standardized development environments.
• Understanding of secure software development, software supply chain, dependency management, artifacts, secrets handling, and policy enforcement.
• Ability to design systems balancing security, standardization, usability, reliability, and developer productivity.
• Proven experience leading technical initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build secure developer platform capabilities using Python or TypeScript/JavaScript, GitHub Actions, Pulumi, Docker, AWS, and APIs.
• Mature governed cloud development workspace capabilities with secure workspace patterns.
• Create reusable templates, reference implementations, and paved-road patterns for secure development environments.
• Partner with software engineers to standardize environments and increase adoption of platform capabilities.
• Improve developer experience by reducing setup time and automating workflows.
• Build operational excellence into platform services with monitoring, runbooks, automation, and proactive support.
• Establish and improve platform operations, ownership, lifecycle, incident response, and reliability.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, EA, and engineering teams to translate security requirements into platform controls.
• Identify recurring pain points and transform them into reusable frameworks and tooling.
• Support governed AI-assisted development with approved AI tools in secure environments.
• Contribute to broader Builder Tools & Platforms portfolios across tooling and enterprise standards.
• Work across full lifecycle of platform engineering from design to production operations.
• Transform emerging needs into reliable, reusable, governed platform capabilities.
