Job summary

Hard Rock Digital is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to own and steer the internal developer platform, built on Backstage. You will partner with DevOps, SRE, security, and product teams to set standards, drive self-service capabilities, and guide multi-quarter platform initiatives.

Qualifications

8+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE with senior leadership experience
Own architecture/roadmap for internal developer platform at scale (Backstage preferred)
Track record of driving org-wide adoption of self-service workflows and golden paths
Expert-level knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native architectures
Deep experience with Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and Helm
Advanced IaC with Terraform/Terragrunt and modular ecosystems

Responsibilities

Define and drive the platform vision, architecture, and roadmap for the internal developer platform (Backstage)
Set company-wide standards for golden paths and self-service workflows
Lead build-vs-buy decisions for platform investments and plugin evaluations
Collaborate with engineering leaders to align platform roadmap with priorities
Define and report on DevEx metrics and platform health (DORA metrics, lead time)
Drive platform adoption across teams and migrate legacy workflows
Architect cross-account AWS/EKS/Terraform-based platforms
Embed security, compliance, and guardrails by design at the platform level
Champion AI-enabled engineering and integrate AI workflows into the platform
