Job summary

Oyster is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to shape the platform between code and production. You’ll design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage AWS infrastructure with Terraform, and build developer tooling to reduce toil and accelerate delivery.

This remote-first role collaborates with distributed teams, applying SRE practices, observability, and automation to scale securely and reliably while exploring AI-enabled productivity improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE or related production engineering role.
• Strong software development experience, with automation and platform tooling.
• Proven experience designing and operating production systems on AWS.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and production debugging (Datadog, Sentry).
• Strong understanding of reliability, incident response, and operational best practices.
• A platform mindset; treat internal teams as customers to reduce cognitive load.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in remote, asynchronous environments.

Responsibilities

• Build a world-class developer experience through internal tooling and abstractions.
• Own the path from commit to production with automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Evolve and operate Oyster’s AWS infrastructure with IaC for scale and cost efficiency.
• Improve reliability and observability, applying SRE principles.
• Accelerate engineering with AI, automation, and smart tooling to reduce toil.
• Build platform capabilities as a product by understanding internal team needs and feedback.
• Partner with engineering, security, and infra teams to diagnose issues and support reliability.
