Job summary

Be | Shaping the Future Poland seeks a Senior Network Engineer to lead firewall security for Check Point and Fortinet platforms, coordinating Network Engineers and managing the RUN environment, VPNs, and firewall policies.

The candidate will serve as Technical Lead during major incidents, including a 24/7 on-call rotation, and drive Change, Release, Incident, and Problem Management processes while ensuring security compliance. German language is a plus.

Qualifications

• CCSE and NSE 4 certifications demonstrating enterprise security expertise.
• Hands-on experience with Check Point and Fortinet firewall platforms.
• Experience leading and mentoring security teams, including nearshore teams.
• Strong troubleshooting and operational support in large-scale security environments.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership and coordination of Network Engineers within the Firewall service.
• Configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of Check Point Gaia, R80/R81, and Fortinet FortiOS/FortiGate/FortiManager.
• Management and support of Site-to-Site VPN connectivity and firewall rule lifecycle.
• Firewall performance optimization and continuous monitoring to prevent issues.
• Lead Major Incidents and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation; manage Change/Release/Incident/Problem processes.
• Create and maintain technical documentation per client standards; ensure compliance with security requirements.

Senior Network Engineer - Security & Firewall (Check Point & Fortinet)

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership and coordination of Network Engineers within the Firewall product area. The role includes operational responsibility for the RUN environment, covering configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of Check Point and Fortinet security platforms, including Site-to-Site VPN connectivity and firewall rule lifecycle management.

Key responsibilities include acting as Technical Lead during major incidents, including participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation, and managing Change, Release, Incident, and Problem Management processes. The role also covers Event, Availability, Capacity, Vulnerability, and CMDB Management to ensure secure, compliant, and high-performing network security services.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical leadership and coordination of Network Engineers within the Firewall service
• Configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of Check Point (Gaia, R80/R81, MDS/MLM) and Fortinet (FortiOS, FortiGate, FortiManager) platforms
• Management and support of Site-to-Site VPN connectivity
• Firewall rule lifecycle management, including implementation, optimization, and governance
• Firewall performance optimization
• Continuous monitoring, analysis, and proactive issue resolution
• Testing and validation of firewall configurations and security policies
• Ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements
• Quality assurance of configurations, including analysis and troubleshooting in accordance with client operational processes
• Implementation of planned changes following established client change management procedures
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation in accordance with client documentation standards
• Technical Lead for Major Incidents, including participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation
• Management of Change, Release, Incident, and Problem processes
• Event, Availability, Capacity, Vulnerability, and CMDB Management

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE) or higher
• Fortinet NSE 4 certification or higher (or equivalent Fortinet certification path)
• Strong hands-on experience with Check Point and Fortinet firewall solutions
• Experience with Site-to-Site VPN technologies and firewall policy management
• Experience in technical leadership and mentoring of teams, including nearshore teams
• Strong troubleshooting and operational support skills in enterprise security environments

Preferred Qualifications

• ITIL knowledge and experience
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Python
• Experience with CheckMK monitoring solutions
• German language skills are an advantage
• Knowledge of Capacity, Vulnerability, and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) processes
