Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer (Kafka) to own and operate the Kafka estate behind an event-driven integration platform.

You will design topics, partitions, replication, and ensure reliability across the platform, including handling exactly-once semantics, dead-lettering, and replay tooling. The role emphasizes Linux engineering, Python scripting, CI/CD ownership, containerization with Docker/Podman, IaC, observability, and GenAI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on Kafka experience with design, tuning and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of at-least-once vs exactly-once semantics and replay handling.
• Strong Linux engineering and automation with Python scripting.
• CI/CD ownership, preferably Jenkins declarative pipelines.
• Experience with containers (Docker/Podman) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management experience.
• Observability: logs, metrics, alerts, and SLOs.
• Familiarity with GenAI tools in daily development.
• Networking, TLS, and enterprise authentication concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own the Kafka estate: topic design, partitioning, replication, and retention.
• Maintain platform reliability and resilience during upstream outages.
• Implement delivery guarantees and dead-letter strategies.
• Build streaming observability: lag, throughput, tracing, dashboards.
• Plan capacity and retention for regulatory audit requirements.
• Evaluate vendor streaming and CDC mechanisms as paths mature.
• Own build and release pipelines: Jenkins pipelines, signed images, docs.
• Operate runtime estate: containerised deployments and gateway hosts.
• Automate environment provisioning and maintain single source of truth.
