Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Kafka) to own and operate a Kafka estate behind an event-driven integration platform, including build, deployment and monitoring infrastructure.

You will design topics, partitions, replication and retention, while ensuring platform resilience and auditable event replayability. In this role you will implement at-least-once and exactly-once semantics, manage CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), containerized deployments (Docker/Podman, Kubernetes),

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on production Kafka experience of 4+ years.
• Event-driven delivery semantics like at-least-once vs exactly-once, idempotency, ordering guarantees.
• Strong enterprise Linux engineering and automation — shell plus Python scripting.
• CI/CD pipeline ownership, ideally Jenkins declarative pipelines with artifact/release management.
• Containers — Docker or Podman, OCI images and orchestration platforms.
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management.
• Observability tooling: log aggregation, metrics, alerting and SLOs.
• GenAI-assisted development and daily use of AI coding tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the Kafka estate: topic design, partitioning, replication and retention policies.
• Ensure platform resilience during upstream SaaS degradation and scale in traffic spikes.
• Implement at-least-once and exactly-once semantics with idempotent producers and dead-letter handling.
• Build streaming observability: lag, throughput, tracing, dashboards, and alerting.
• Plan capacity and retention for durable logs with audit requirements.
• Integrate vendor-native streaming and CDC mechanisms as platforms mature.
• Own and evolve build/release pipelines: Jenkins pipelines producing packaged installs and signed images.
• Operate containerised deployments and runtime estate; modernize OS as needed.
• Automate environment provisioning and maintain single source of truth for assets.
• Collaborate with Python developers on deployability, performance and cost.
