Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Kafka) to own and operate the Kafka estate behind an event-driven integration platform, including its build, deployment, and monitoring infrastructure.

You will design partition strategies, ensure delivery guarantees (at-least-once/ exactly-once), and build observability dashboards while collaborating with global teams and maintaining security, cost, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on production Kafka experience of at least 4+ years.
• Practical understanding of event-driven delivery semantics.
• Strong enterprise Linux engineering and automation — shell plus Python scripting.
• CI/CD pipeline ownership, ideally Jenkins declarative pipelines.
• Containers — Docker or Podman, OCI images, and container orchestration platforms.
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management.
• Observability tooling: log aggregation, metrics, alerting and SLO definition.
• GenAI-assisted development and AI coding agents usage in daily workflow.
• Networking, TLS, secrets management and enterprise authentication (OAuth2).
• Production operations mindset: incident response, capacity planning and change control.

Responsibilities

• Own the Kafka estate — design, partitioning, replication, retention, consumer groups and broker config.
• Maintain platform resilience: handle upstream SaaS degradation, absorb traffic spikes, ensure replayability and auditability.
• Engineer delivery guarantees: at-least-once and exactly-once semantics, idempotent producers, dead-letter topics, replay tooling.
• Build streaming observability: lag, throughput, dashboards, end-to-end tracing and alerting.
• Plan capacity, cost, and retention for durable logs with audit requirements.
• Evaluate vendor-native streaming and CDC mechanisms as the platform matures.
• Own build and release: Jenkins pipelines producing packaged installs and signed containers.
• Operate runtime estate: container deployments, gateway hosts, OS modernization.
• Automate environment provisioning and keep single source of truth for config and assets.
• Collaborate with Python developers on deployability, performance and cost.
