AgileEngine is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Kafka) to own and operate the Kafka estate behind an event-driven integration platform. You will build, deploy, and monitor the infrastructure, ensuring resilience and replayability across the system while collaborating with a global team and adopting GenAI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on production Kafka experience (4+ years).
• Understanding of event-driven delivery semantics and idempotency.
• Strong Linux engineering and Python scripting abilities.
• CI/CD ownership with artifact and release management experience.
• Containers and OCI images with orchestration (Docker/Podman, Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management practices.
• Observability: logs, metrics, alerting and SLOs.
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows is a plus.
• Security: OAuth2 and enterprise authentication basics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in a global team.

Responsibilities

• Own the Kafka estate: topic design, partitioning, replication and retention policies.
• Ensure platform resilience and availability during upstream outages.
• Implement at-least-once and exactly-once semantics with idempotent producers.
• Build streaming observability: lag, throughput, dashboards and tracing.
• Plan capacity and retention to meet regulatory audit requirements.
• Evaluate and integrate vendor-native streaming and CDC mechanisms.
• Own and evolve the build/release pipeline: Jenkins, signed containers, docs.
• Operate runtime estate: container deployments and gateway hosts.
• Automate environment provisioning and maintain single source of truth.
• Collaborate with Python developers on performance and cost.
