Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Kafka) to own and operate the Kafka estate behind an event-driven platform. You will build, deploy, and monitor the infrastructure, ensuring resilience, replayability, and auditable delivery of events across the system.

You will work with Python, Jenkins, Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, and IaC tooling to maintain scalable, secure, and observable streaming infrastructure in a cross-functional team. Remote-friendly with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on production Kafka experience (4+ years).
• Strong Linux engineering and automation skills (shell, Python).
• Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and artifact management.
• Containerization expertise with Docker/Podman and OCI images.
• Kubernetes and container orchestration experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the Kafka estate: design, partitioning, replication, retention and upgrades.
• Maintain platform resilience during upstream outages and traffic spikes.
• Implement at-least-once/ exactly-once semantics and idempotent producers.
• Build streaming observability: lag, throughput, tracing, and dashboards.
• Plan capacity, cost, and retention for durable logs with audit needs.
• Integrate vendor-native streaming/change-data-capture mechanisms as needed.
• Own build/release: Jenkins pipelines, packaged installs, and signed images.
• Manage runtime estate: container deployments and OS modernization.
