ALTEN Poland is looking for a Senior C++ Software Developer in Kraków. You will develop and modernize high‑end software, focusing on real-time components, multithreading, and performance.

The role involves Linux/Windows environments, unit testing, code reviews, and cross‑functional collaboration with R&D and Product teams. You will contribute to architecture, improve latency and memory efficiency, and participate in end‑to‑end development across the software stack.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience, including advanced commercial experience with C++.
• Strong knowledge of C++17/20, including STL, memory management, smart pointers, RAII.
• Experience with real-time systems and multithreading, i.e. concurrent operations where latency and stability are critical.
• Experience in performance optimization, analyzing bottlenecks, memory usage, and latency.
• Practical experience with Linux and Windows and build tools like CMake.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, code reviews, and collaborating in large teams.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

We're hiring Senior C++ Software Developer!

WHAT WILL YOUR CHALLENGES BE?

• Development of existing software and implementation of new functionalities in C++17/20
• Design and development of real-time components, including multithreading, synchronization, and I/O communication
• System performance analysis and optimization, with a focus on latency reduction, memory usage optimization, and resolving issues related to concurrent execution
• Modernization and refactoring of existing code, as well as participation in designing the architecture of new functionalities
• Creation of unit and integration tests, conducting code reviews, and ensuring the quality and stability of the solution
• Development and maintenance of software running on Linux and Windows, including working with application build processes
• Analysis of technical issues and troubleshooting defects within the developed system
• Collaboration with R&D, Product, and other technical teams in requirements analysis and solution design

WHAT DO WE REQUIRE?

• Minimum 8 years of software development experience, including advanced commercial experience with C++
• Strong knowledge of C++17/20, including STL, memory management, smart pointers, RAII, and experience developing large-scale systems and applications
• Experience with real-time systems and multithreading, i.e., applications performing multiple operations concurrently where responsiveness, synchronization, and system stability are critical
• Experience in performance optimization, including analyzing application bottlenecks, memory consumption, and latency issues, as well as implementing improvements to enhance system performance
• Practical experience with Linux and Windows, as well as CMake or similar tools used for building C++ applications
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, code reviews, and working with existing codebases maintained by larger development teams
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher, enabling effective day-to-day communication within an international R&D team

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience in the energy sector or industrial automation, particularly with SCADA, RTU, IED, or power grid monitoring and control systems, is considered a strong advantage
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, OPC UA, or IEEE C37.118 will be an additional asset
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes will be considered an advantage
