Job summary

Tesco Technology in Kraków is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate observability capabilities across thousands of retail locations. You will enable proactive detection, rapid troubleshooting, and data-driven reliability using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong Java development skills (Spring Framework).
• Analytical and data-driven mindset.
• Basic system design skills.
• Deep understanding of metrics, logs, traces, alerting strategies, and performance monitoring.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of event-driven systems and event sourcing.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement metrics, logging, tracing, and telemetry across cloud and edge components.
• Build monitoring pipelines, dashboards, and alerting frameworks that provide actionable insights into deployment health, device status, and store operations.
• Define and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and reliability metrics for mission-critical deployment services.
• Create operational analytics for deployment performance, software rollout progress, failure detection, and capacity planning.
• Integrate telemetry from cloud services, edge devices, deployment agents, and infrastructure components into centralized monitoring platforms.
• Build automated detection and root-cause analysis capabilities using modern observability practices and tooling.
• Develop self-service dashboards and reporting capabilities for engineering, support, and operations teams.
• Drive observability standards, instrumentation practices, and monitoring strategies across the Retail Platform ecosystem.
