Job summary

Routescanner is hiring a senior backend engineer to own JVM-based microservices on AWS, working across route optimization, schedule ingestion, geo-routing, and carrier data at scale. You’ll design, implement, and own services end-to-end in a fast-growing team.

You’ll collaborate on API design (REST, BFF), leverage OpenTelemetry/Prometheus/Grafana for observability, and contribute to architectural direction. Remote-friendly role with a globally impactful product.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Fluent in Polish and English.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and microservices.
• Hands-on AWS experience (ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS or DynamoDB).
• Experience with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Strong Docker/container deployment skills.
• CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions.
• Kotlin-focused for greenfield services.
• Experience with RabbitMQ and SQS/SNS.
• Familiarity with observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana).
• Background in logistics, routing, geospatial, or supply chain.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
• Self-directed with architectural impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain JVM-based microservices on AWS.
• Own services from design to production and shape architecture.
• Work on route optimization, schedule ingestion, geo-routing.
• Collaborate on API design across REST and BFF patterns.
• Implement observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Docker.
• Integrate with external services (Auth0, GraphHopper, Sentry).
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools in daily workflow.
