Job summary

Equinix Internet Access provides fast, reliable internet connectivity from our data center footprint. As a backend engineer on the product team, you will help deliver features from discovery through production operations, collaborating with the product manager, frontend engineers and SRE.

Build and maintain backend microservices in Java/Kotlin, design REST APIs, integrate with Kafka, use Spring Boot, write tests, and contribute to CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or 2+ years of backend experience.
• Solid skills in Java or Kotlin and experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs, integrating via messaging systems (e.g. Kafka), and working with relational databases and ORMs (e.g., Hibernate).
• Familiarity with automated testing, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Clear written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend microservices and integrations in Java/Kotlin, delivering well-scoped features with limited supervision.
• Collaborate with the product manager to turn customer needs into user stories and tasks.
• Contribute to solution design and document design decisions for review by senior engineers.
• Integrate with internal and external systems using REST APIs and Temporal workflows.
• Write unit and integration tests and own the quality of your components.
• Participate in peer code reviews and follow team standards.
• Contribute to CI/CD and DevSecOps improvements (pipeline enhancements, static analysis, dependency scanning).
• Help monitor, troubleshoot, and respond to incidents.
