Job summary

Equinix, Inc. is hiring a backend engineer for our Warsaw office to build and maintain microservices using Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot, and REST APIs. You will integrate with Kafka, ORM-based databases, and participate in CI/CD and DevSecOps efforts while collaborating with product managers and SRE.

The role emphasizes delivering quality code, participating in reviews, and using AI-assisted development tools. English communication is required; prior product-team experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or 1 internship plus 2+ years of backend experience.
• Solid skills in Java or Kotlin and experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs, integrating via messaging systems (e.g. Kafka), and working with relational databases and ORMs (Hibernate).
• Familiarity with automated testing, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Clear written and verbal English communication, and willingness to learn from feedback.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend microservices and integrations in Java/Kotlin with limited supervision.
• Turn customer needs into user stories and technical tasks with the product manager.
• Contribute to solution design and document design decisions for review by senior engineers.
• Integrate with internal and external systems via REST APIs and workflow orchestration (Temporal).
• Write unit and integration tests and ensure quality of components delivered.
• Participate in peer code reviews and follow team standards.
• Contribute to CI/CD and DevSecOps improvements, including pipelines, static analysis and dependency scanning.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and participate in incident response.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and validate outputs.
• Propose new tools and quick prototype ideas to the team.
