Job summary

Camunda in a remote-first setup is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for our Data Streaming team to build a foundational architecture that enables scalable access to process data. You will help move streaming workloads off the live engine and design a durable, decoupled data path.

You will partner with Product, Data Layer, and SRE to shape the streaming architecture, implement with systems like Kafka, and contribute meaningfully in a small, high-ownership team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience in Java, focused on distributed/data-intensive systems.
• Experience building/operating analytical serving layers on table formats (Iceberg/Delta Lake) or stateful stream-processing frameworks (Flink, Kafka Streams).
• Experience with object storage systems (S3/GCS/Azure) and reliable upload/commit protocols.
• Strong grounding in correctness and consistency in data-intensive systems.
• Proven track record leading medium-to-large engineering initiatives end-to-end.
• Strong communication/collaboration in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Help rebuild Camunda's analytics product to consume and serve process data at scale.
• Design and build core streaming infrastructure decoupling data access from live engine, backed by durable storage.
• Develop customer-facing streaming capabilities with Kafka integration for users' tools.
• Make architectural decisions in a small, high-ownership team regarding consistency and durability.
• Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations, feeding learnings back into the product.
