Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager - Medical Devices to drive the commercial growth and market expansion of our medical device portfolio in Poland. The candidate will be responsible for developing business across public and private healthcare sectors, building relationships with hospitals, clinics, distributors, healthcare professionals, and other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in the Polish medical device market and a good understanding of EU Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR 2017/745), Polish Medical Devices Act requirements, URPL requirements, CE-marked medical devices, and local healthcare procurement practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy & Implementation
- Develop and execute sales and business development strategies tailored to the Polish healthcare and medical device market.
- Identify new business opportunities across public hospitals, private hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres, distributors, and other healthcare institutions.
- Develop a strong sales pipeline and manage opportunities from initial engagement through commercial closure.
- Conduct product presentations, demonstrations, and training sessions for customers and healthcare professionals.
- Work closely with internal commercial, regulatory, supply chain, and management teams to support successful market development.
2. Market Expansion & Partnership Development
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, clinics, healthcare professionals, distributors, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Identify, evaluate, appoint, and manage potential distributors and channel partners across Poland.
- Develop relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and relevant medical professionals to support product awareness and adoption.
- Identify new market segments and geographical expansion opportunities.
- Monitor competitor activities, product positioning, pricing, distribution models, and market trends.
- Provide regular market intelligence and recommendations to management.
3. Sales Targets & Performance
- Achieve assigned sales and revenue targets for the Polish market.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and opportunity forecast.
- Track customer interactions, quotations, commercial opportunities, and expected closures.
- Provide regular reports on sales performance, market developments, customer feedback, competitor activities, and business opportunities.
- Coordinate with management on pricing strategies and commercial proposals.
4. Public Procurement & Tender Support
- Identify relevant public-sector procurement and tender opportunities for medical devices.
- Support preparation and submission of commercial documentation required for hospital and public procurement opportunities.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure that technical, regulatory, and commercial documentation required for tenders is available.
- Build relationships with relevant hospital procurement departments and healthcare institutions.
- Monitor upcoming public procurement opportunities and maintain a tender pipeline.
5. Regulatory & Compliance Collaboration
- Work closely with the Regulatory Affairs team to ensure that products commercialised in Poland comply with applicable EU MDR 2017/745 and Polish medical device requirements.
- Support commercial activities involving CE-marked medical devices and ensure that only appropriately compliant products are promoted and supplied.
- Maintain awareness of requirements of the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products (URPL).
- Support the organisation in meeting applicable distributor/importer obligations in Poland.
- Coordinate with Regulatory Affairs regarding EUDAMED, UDI, product registration/listing, labelling and other applicable requirements.
- Ensure that product labelling, Instructions for Use (IFU), promotional materials and other customer-facing information comply with applicable Polish-language and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that sales and promotional activities are aligned with applicable Polish medical device advertising requirements.
- Escalate product complaints, safety issues and potential medical device incidents to the appropriate Regulatory/Quality teams in accordance with company procedures.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Healthcare, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in medical device sales, business development, or commercial operations, preferably within Poland.
- Strong understanding of the Polish healthcare and medical device market.
- Good working knowledge of EU MDR 2017/745 and the regulatory framework applicable to medical devices in Poland.
- Familiarity with URPL, CE marking, EUDAMED, UDI and distributor/importer responsibilities is highly desirable.
- Experience dealing with hospitals, clinics, distributors, healthcare professionals, and procurement departments.
- Experience in public tenders and hospital procurement will be highly preferred.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, relationship-management, and commercial skills.
- Ability to independently develop and manage a sales territory.
- Willingness to travel across Poland based on business requirements.
