Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer – Protection to lead backend architecture and implementation for payment dispute management, fraud prevention, and risk automation in a fully remote role based in Poland. You will own critical systems, partner with PSPs, and drive reliability across the platform.

You will collaborate with Engineering and Product leadership, mentor peers, and contribute to both backend and dashboard frontend when needed, delivering high-quality, scalable payment

Qualifications

• Proven experience owning backend systems end to end.
• Strong software engineering and system design skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and establishing engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication in a remote, distributed environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain robust backend systems from architecture to deployment.
• Develop automation for payment disputes, including notifications and workflows.
• Integrate with multiple Payment Service Providers and ensure cross-platform functionality.
• Collaborate with third-party fraud prevention providers to unify fraud screening.
• Design and implement a native risk management engine with configurable rules.
• Work with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to translate merchant challenges into technical solutions.
• Contribute to backend development while supporting dashboard frontend when needed.
• Establish quality, reliability, and monitoring practices to minimize financial risk for customers.
• Mentor team members and raise technical standards through solid engineering practices.
• Help establish team conventions, tooling, on-call processes, and evolving development practices.
