Job summary

PropertyTalents is assisting a Warsaw-based investment and development group to recruit an experienced Chief Accountant. The role leads the accounting and statutory reporting across multiple entities, with responsibility for monthly, quarterly and year-end closings and tax reporting.

You will oversee VAT, CIT and other reporting, coordinate with auditors and authorities, and drive improvements in controls and data quality.

Qualifications

• Several years of relevant accounting experience in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of Polish Accounting Act and Polish tax regulations.
• Experience with statutory financial statements and month-end/year-end closing.
• Ability to work in a complex or growing business environment.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ownership mindset and ability to organize accounting processes independently.
• Fluent Polish with good English.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full responsibility for the company’s accounting and statutory reporting.
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual closing.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with Polish accounting regulations.
• Oversee VAT, CIT and other tax-related reporting and compliance.
• Coordinate cooperation with external auditors, tax advisors, banks and public authorities.
• Supervise accounting documentation, reconciliations, provisions, accruals and fixed assets
• Ensure compliance of accounting processes with applicable regulations and internal policies.
• Support management with reliable financial and accounting information.
• Improve, standardize and automate accounting and finance processes.
• Support the development of internal controls, reporting procedures and efficient workflows.
• Cooperate closely with finance, operations and management teams.
• Use modern tools and technologies, including automation and AI-supported solutions, to improve efficiency and data quality.

Requirements:

• Several years of relevant accounting experience in a comparable senior accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of Polish Accounting Act and Polish tax regulations.
• Proven experience with statutory financial statements, month-end and year-end closing and tax reporting.
• Experience working in a complex or growing business environment.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to take ownership and independently organize accounting processes.
• Practical, solution-oriented approach and willingness to improve existing ways of working.
• Confidence working with accounting and ERP systems and openness to new technologies.
• Very good command of Polish and good working knowledge of English.
• Experience in real estate, investment, development or another asset-intensive business.
