Job description

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The Content Localization team, responsible for dubbing, subtitling, accessibility, main/episodic titles, and marketing assets, plays a crucial role in delivering these programs to an expanding international audience by focusing on high-quality localized audio and text services, fostering a collaborative team environment, and utilizing technology.

As a Language Producer, you will ensure that members experience high-quality localized assets, preserving creative intent and enhancing the localized experience for viewers everywhere. With Netflix's global reach and ever-evolving entertainment footprint, localization support for new languages and content genres is essential to our success, making this an exciting time to join the company.

The Role

The Language Producer is the advocate for language quality, creative consistency, and cultural authenticity across all localized Netflix content in their assigned language(s). This role oversees the end-to-end creative and linguistic aspects of dubbing, subtitling, main/episodic titles, accessibility, and marketing assets, serving as the key point of contact for all language-specific localization efforts. Approximately 40% of the role is dedicated to direct title and project coverage—supporting long-form project progress, creative strategy and quality control, and the launch of all localized assets—while the remaining 60% focuses on strategic market and talent development, including workflow innovation, vendor management, and building a robust talent pipeline. This is in support and collaboration with Content Localization Title Producers. The Language Producer partners with internal teams and external talent to deliver high-quality, culturally relevant content. By monitoring language trends and maintaining deep market awareness, this role ensures every Netflix story resonates authentically with local audiences and upholds high standards of creative excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Language Quality & Creative Excellence
  • Establish and enforce creative and quality standards and guidelines for all localized content in your assigned language(s), ensuring consistency across dubbing, subtitling, main/episodic titles, accessibility, and marketing assets.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain language strategies that prioritize localization efforts based on business impact and creative requirements.
  • Monitor language performance metrics and emerging linguistic trends, proactively identifying and resolving quality or consistency challenges.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Advocacy
  • Partner closely with Content Localization Title Producers, Product Localization, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to align on localization strategy, execution, and creative direction for your language(s).
  • Represent language-specific needs and perspectives in cross-team initiatives, integration projects, and support for emerging media types.
  • Ensure effective communication channels between local language teams and global stakeholders, advocating for both local nuance and global consistency.
Vendor & Resource Management
  • Inform the consolidation and strategic assignment of vendors at the language level to maximize efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Global Resource Management to evaluate, refine, and implement vendor strategies and resource allocation for your language(s).
  • Oversee the selection, onboarding, and ongoing management of language-specific resources, ensuring a strong talent pipeline.
Talent & Market Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local dubbing and subtitling talent, studios, and industry communities to support creative excellence and market relevance.
  • Maintain and regularly update a database of language talent in partnership with vendors, performance, and specialization.
  • Monitor union, guild, and competitor activity to anticipate market shifts, inform strategy, and maintain competitive talent engagement.
Innovation, Change & Scalability
  • Serve as the local Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Netflix tooling and workflows, providing guidance to vendors on effective adoption, troubleshooting, and best practices to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence.
  • Champion the adoption of new workflows, automation, and technology to streamline localization processes and support the localization of emerging media types (e.g., interactive, live, podcasts).
  • Lead initiatives to enhance quality at scale, expedite project timelines, and support business continuity across all content types and workflows.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation and the sharing of best practices within the local industry.
Inclusion & Diversity
  • Lead and support initiatives to ensure inclusive and diverse engagement of language talent and resources.
  • Ensure that localization strategies and talent pipelines reflect both the nuances of local audiences and the broader goals of global consistency and representation.
  • Champion global diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in language production.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 or more years of experience in content localization, dubbing, subtitle, or international versioning for TV/film services.
  • Expertise in both dubbing and subtitling workflows, with a strong passion for language quality and cultural nuance.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, supervising several projects at various points of production (from development through delivery).
  • Linguistic expertise and previous localization experience in your local market language(s).
