The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and scale the Partner Enablement Apps engineering organization. This group develops business‑to‑business applications that enable our device and operator partners to integrate with Netflix APIs, manage device and service lifecycles, and operate partner payment experiences. The tools are used by external partners and by Netflix teams to launch, operate, monitor, update and retire partner experiences at scale.
In this role you’ll drive the long‑term technical strategy, organizational health and delivery excellence across multiple teams, ensuring partner and internal experiences are reliable, intuitive and ready for the next generation of integrations.
The Team
You will lead a growing engineering organization based primarily in Warsaw, Poland, with team members in the United States, Brazil, Netherlands and Taiwan. The organization currently consists of four domains and requires building strong relationships across time zones and fostering a cohesive, high‑performing culture despite geographic distribution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and drive the long‑term technical vision and roadmap for Enablement Applications, aligning with broader Netflix objectives
- Partner with Product Managers, Designers and senior leadership across the organization to influence strategy and prioritization
- Identify opportunities for innovation and platform evolution that will scale to support Netflix’s next hundred million customers
- Own the technical and organizational strategy for migrating and deprecating legacy services while maintaining operational excellence
People Leadership & Organizational Development
- Build, mentor and retain a world‑class engineering team, including hiring and developing engineering managers and senior individual contributors
- Create an environment where engineers at all levels can do the best work of their careers
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, psychological safety and engineering excellence
- Champion diversity and inclusion, ensuring all team members can thrive regardless of background
- Provide thoughtful coaching and career development support tailored to individual growth needs
Technical Excellence & Delivery
- Establish and maintain a strong, mature foundation for core services across all Enablement Apps, including:
- Comprehensive testing strategies (unit, integration, automated testing)
- Robust monitoring, alerting and observability
- Scalable and sustainable on‑call support models
- Data quality and engineering best practices
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to design and implement scalable, performant, and reliable solutions
- Stay current with industry trends, tools and technologies, assess their relevance and drive adoption where appropriate
Operational Excellence
- Own reliability and support for Partner Enablement Applications, including first‑tier support for internal and external partners
- Drive operational maturity through metrics, SLOs and continuous improvement initiatives
- Balance innovation with stability, ensuring the team delivers value while maintaining system health
Cross‑Functional Partnership
This is a highly collaborative role with partners across multiple time zones. Meetings may fall outside standard local working hours, and the schedule is managed flexibly to balance business needs and personal schedule. Travel to other organizational locations is expected several times per year to participate in leadership offsites, planning sessions and strengthen cross‑functional relationships.
- Build strong relationships with Product, Design, Partner Engineering and Business Development teams
- Effectively communicate technical concepts and trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders
- Navigate complex organizational dynamics and drive alignment across distributed teams
Requirements
Experience
- Extensive software development experience with strong technical foundations
- Significant experience in engineering leadership roles, including managing managers or leading multiple teams
- Proven track record of building and scaling engineering organizations
- Experience with distributed systems, web applications and cloud infrastructure
Leadership & Communication
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
- Strong judgment and ability to make high‑quality decisions in ambiguous situations
- Experience fostering inclusive team cultures where diverse perspectives are valued
- Comfortable with in‑office collaboration a few days per week (team and partners work in person regularly)
Technical
- Deep understanding of full‑stack engineering practices and modern software development methodologies
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Spinnaker), build tools (Gradle) and cloud platforms
- Strong grasp of reliability engineering principles (monitoring, alerting, incident management)
- Demonstrated success working with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones
Nice to Have
- Experience in B2B platform development or partner‑facing applications
- Background in device ecosystem management or consumer electronics partnerships
- Experience with data platforms and analytics systems
- Prior experience at a high‑growth technology company operating at scale
