Job summary

Hitachi, Ltd. in Łódź seeks a Junior R&D Electrical Engineer to join the Global Multi-physics Simulation Team.

You will perform circuit-level, electromagnetic, and multi-physics simulations to support dry-type and liquid-filled transformers, collaborating across engineering, testing and product development to drive early design validation. You will help develop automation tools, contribute to new simulation methodologies, and assist in transfer of technology from R&D to Engineering,

Qualifications

• MSc in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Initial professional experience in electrical engineering, preferably with exposure to transformer design.
• Strong theoretical foundation in circuit theory, electromagnetics, and transformer physics for dry-type and liquid-filled distribution and traction transformers.
• Preferred: knowledge of transformer performance prediction including impedance and transient behavior, leakage fields, short-circuit forces, mutual inductances.
• Preferred: experience with electromagnetic finite element analysis (FEA) using tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL, Altair Flux, FEMM, or other EM FEM tools.
• Preferred: experience with circuit-level simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, Ansys TwinBuilder/Simplorer or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform circuit-level, electromagnetic, and multiphysics simulations of distribution and traction transformers in accordance with IEC/IEEE standards.
• Evaluate performance parameters such as losses, impedance, leakage fields, short-circuit forces, inductances, and transient behavior using FEM and circuit simulations.
• Develop and maintain automation tools and simulation workflows for early design validation and FAT prediction.
• Develop new multi-physics simulation methodologies by coupling circuit-level and electromagnetic models with structural mechanics, thermomechanical, and acoustic simulations.
• Support feasibility studies and technology development relating to dry-type and liquid-filled transformers.
• Support transfer of technology from R&D to Engineering with design rules, trainings, and collaboration with design tools teams.
