Job summary

Hitachi Energy Poland SP. Z O.O. in Łódź is seeking an R&D Engineer for electrical transient simulations to advance medium voltage transformer and power converter technologies within a collaborative, international team.

You will contribute from concept to testing and product launch, ensuring designs meet technical specifications and market needs. The role offers hands-on experience, technical growth, and a meaningful impact on the energy transition.

Qualifications

MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, ideally with R&D experience in a business environment.
Strong background in distribution system and transformer transient mathematical analysis, modelling, and simulation.
Good knowledge of grid-connected power converters and switching behaviour, ideally with average and small-signal modelling.
Good knowledge of MATLAB and Python, complemented by Simulink, PLECS, LT Spice, EMTP.
Experience using finite element tools (Ansys, Comsol) would be a plus.
Excellent English communication and ability to work in international teams.

Responsibilities

Develop and validate transformer and converter models to analyze transient performance.
Create and validate medium- and high-frequency models for system analysis.
Collaborate with customers during specification to meet requirements.
Provide technical support to quality departments.
Study overvoltage phenomena and transient impacts on electrical systems.
Utilize FEM and MATLAB tools to analyze resonance and reconfiguration.
Lead work packages with a structured approach.
