Alarm.com is expanding a Kraków-based team and seeks a Software Engineer II (Android & Backend). The role blends native Android development with backend services, offering opportunities to learn from senior engineers and deliver features used by millions of customers.

You will work on IoT-driven security and energy analytics platforms, with exposure to Kotlin/Java, C#, .NET, and SQL databases. We value collaboration, code quality, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or similar engineering program.
• English proficiency. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience building native Android applications (Kotlin or Java).
• Exposure to backend development (C# and/or Java).
• Familiarity with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar).
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Experience with version control (Git).
• Strong interest in learning backend and Android best practices.
• Exposure to React Native, iOS development (Swift/Objective-C), and/or Web development.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, Kafka, or microservices.
• Experience with automated testing for Android and backend services.

Responsibilities

• Contribute and Deliver: Implement Android features and backend services under guidance from senior engineers.
• Collaborate: Work with product managers and designers to build scalable user-facing features.
• Problem Solve: Write efficient, maintainable code balancing performance, security & reliability.
• Grow Across Layers: Gain experience in Android apps and backend services (C#).
• Ensure Quality: Write unit tests, participate in QA cycles, monitor production.
• Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with tools and best practices.
• Team Contribution: Participate in code reviews and documentation.
