Job summary

Metlen in Warszawa is seeking a Financial Controller for construction/EPC projects. The role focuses on cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, requiring coordination with project teams and stakeholders.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in financial controlling within construction or industrial projects, strong ERP experience (SAP/Oracle), and excellent English communication skills. This position is on site in Poland with a focus on project execution and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of financial controlling experience in construction/EPC/industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of cost control, budgeting and forecasting in construction.
  • Familiarity with project ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and cost-tracking tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work with project/site teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent English knowledge (C1 or higher) and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and analyzing project costs including materials, subcontractors, labor, and overhead.
  • Supporting month-end closing with cost allocation and accruals.
  • Conducting variance analysis to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Implementing cost control measures and driving cost optimization.
  • Preparing project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Tracking performance against budget and providing variance reports.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers and Site Teams on financial tracking.
  • Monitoring KPIs such as cost performance, productivity, and spend vs progress.
  • Supporting claims, change orders, and final Estimates at Completion (EAC).
  • Preparing timely financial reports and management dashboards; supporting audits.

Job description

  • Monitoring and analyzing project costs, including construction materials, subcontractors, labor, equipment, logistics, and overhead.
  • Supporting month-end closing with a focus on project cost allocation and accruals.
  • Conducting variance analysis (comparing budget, actual, and forecast figures) to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Implementing cost control measures and supporting cost optimization initiatives across the project.
Financial Planning and Budgeting
  • Supporting the preparation of project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Tracking project performance against the established budget and providing regular variance reporting.
  • Working closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to align financial tracking with physical project progress and milestones.
Project & Performance Analysis
  • Monitoring project key performance indicators (KPIs), such as cost performance, productivity, and progress versus spend.
  • Analyzing construction activities and resource utilization to identify and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Supporting claims, change orders, and the forecasting of final project results, including the Estimate at Completion (EAC).
Financial Reporting and Compliance
  • Preparing timely and accurate project financial reports and management dashboards.
  • Ensuring full compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and project reporting requirements.
  • Supporting the preparation of statutory reports.
  • Supporting audits by gathering and providing necessary documentation related to project finances and contractual execution.
What you bring to the role:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial controlling within construction, EPC,or industrial projects (CCGT or energy projects experience is an advantage).
  • Strong understanding of project cost control, budgeting, and forecasting in aconstruction environment.
  • Familiarity with project-based ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and cost tracking tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work closely with project/site teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (Level C1 or higher ) and Strong communication skills and ability to interact with both finance and engineering/construction stakeholders.
