Job summary

Peloton is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable microservices powering core features across Bike, Tread, Strength and Digital platforms. You’ll work with NLP/ASR related AI teams, develop APIs, ensure high availability, and participate in CI/CD and on-call rotations.

Collaboration with Product, Design and QA is essential. The role requires 3+ years in backend cloud development, experience with Kotlin or Python, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS

Qualifications

• MS or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics
• 3+ years of software development experience building backend cloud application systems
• Experience in Kotlin, Python, or similar languages
• Experience with Spring Boot, Bottle/Gunicorn, or similar backend web frameworks (JVM or Python)
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with Elastic Search
• Familiarity with caching systems such as Memcache, Redis
• Experience with REST, gRPC, or GraphQL
• Ability to work in high growth, fast-paced environments
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with AWS services and cloud concepts
• Familiarity with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins
• Observability tools such as Datadog
• Understanding of API design and security
• Experience with production support in distributed systems
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain business-critical APIs and services with focus on high availability, low latency, security and scalability
• Provide updates to team leaders and participate in sprint planning
• Write clean, tested code with maintainability in mind
• Contribute to reusable code, libraries, and patterns across teams
• Scale services to meet business requirements under supervision
• Utilize monitoring, profiling and load testing to identify bottlenecks and optimize performance
• Apply CI/CD, feature toggles, logging and monitoring in release processes
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to maintain reliability
