Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Expert System Engineer (AI & Advanced Process Control) to develop, maintain and deploy advanced expert systems that optimize kiln and grinding processes. You will collaborate with plant teams, process experts and technology providers to accelerate automation and deliver digital solutions globally.

The role requires 3–8 years in APC or automation, strong English skills, and hands-on experience with DCS/PLC and OPC communications.

Formación

• University degree in Automation, Process, Electrical or related field.
• 3–8 years in Advanced Process Control or industrial automation.
• Solid understanding of process control principles.
• Experience with DCS/PLC and OPC communications.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain and improve expert systems for kiln and grinding optimization.
• Develop advanced control strategies including AI/ML-based solutions.
• Integrate soft sensors, process models and mass/heat balances into control apps.
• Ensure integration with DCS/PLC and data platforms using OPC/ODBC/SQL.
• Provide remote support for incidents, alarms and tickets to ensure high availability.
• Fine-tune MPC, Fuzzy logic and PID controllers for improvements.
• Deliver training and guidance to operators and plant personnel.
• Troubleshoot APC integration with plant control systems.
• Maintain technical docs and site procedures.
• Collaborate with Global Competence Centers and external providers.
