Dutchess County BOCES is seeking a Teaching Assistant for Crisis Intervention at Resilience Academy. The role focuses on trauma, mental health emergencies, and de-escalation, providing instructional and experiential support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an educationally related field.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students on special instructional projects including life space interviews and anger replacement strategies; perform related teaching assistant work as required.
• Provide the teacher with information about students to assist in the development of appropriate learning experiences.
• Assist in instructional programs and behavior management by managing disruptive, assaultive, and out-of-control student behavior using therapeutic physical intervention strategies as needed.
• Perform related teaching assistant work as required.

Teaching Assistant for Crisis Intervention

Position Overview

The Teaching Assistant (TA) for Crisis Intervention provides instructional and experiential support focused on trauma, mental health emergencies, and de‑escalation.

Terms of Employment

• Full‑time, 10‑month, tenure‑track assignment

Qualifications

• A minimum Bachelor’s Degree in an educationally related field
• Completion of Crisis Intervention training as a Crisis Intervention Worker
• Completion of Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention training through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) as a Crisis Intervention Trainer is desirable
• Minimum of three years of experience working directly with students in an educational setting or equivalent
• Skills, knowledge, attitude, and confidence to effectively work with students in crisis— to be in control in a crisis situation, to help students learn and grow from the experience, and to respond to both feelings as well as outward behavior of a student in crisis

Salary

$46,958 – $54,905 in accordance with the BOCES Faculty Agreement Contract, experience, and education.
