GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB:

Under the direct supervision of building administration, the Resident Substitute Teacher provides daily instructional coverage, classroom management, and educational support across various BOCES programs (including Career & Technical Education, Special Education, and Alternative Education). Unlike traditional per diem substitutes, the Resident Substitute is assigned to a designated BOCES facility on a full-time or continuous daily basis, ensuring seamless continuity of instruction and school operations during temporary staff absences.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track / Temporary Annual Appointment
• 10-Month Position
• Follows the standard instructional workday for the assigned program/facility

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (NYS Teacher Certification preferred; uncertified candidates with 60+ college credits or relevant degree may qualify depending on regional civil service/district requirements).
• Clearance: Fingerprint clearance through the New York State Education Department (NYSED) prior to appointment.
