Job purpose: The Programme Assistant (SC5) will provide crucial support for the implementation, coordination, and oversight of activities under the BISP Stunting Prevention Project across multiple divisions in Pakistan. Reporting to the Programme Policy Officer, the incumbent will liaise with various stakeholders including government representatives, health authorities, and cooperating partners to ensure effective service delivery through Benazir Nashonuma Programme (BNP) Centres. Key responsibilities include supporting programme implementation, conducting field oversight visits to assess service quality, facilitating capacity-building activities, monitoring nutrition commodity distribution, and ensuring data quality and accurate reporting. This role is essential for strengthening programme performance, enhancing accountability, and achieving project objectives in maternal and child nutrition.
Responsibilities: The Programme Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation, coordination, and oversight of the BISP Stunting Prevention Project across various divisions and districts. Key responsibilities include fostering strong relationships and effective liaison with a wide range of stakeholders, such as BISP representatives, District Health Authorities, Lady Health Worker Programme, Cooperating Partners, and local administrations, to ensure seamless project execution. The role involves conducting regular oversight visits to program sites and Benazir Nashonuma Programme (BNP) Centres to assess service quality, operational effectiveness, and adherence to program standards. Additionally, the Programme Assistant will support capacity-building initiatives for project staff and stakeholders, provide guidance on program requirements, and facilitate the dissemination of essential program information. A significant part of the role involves supporting the management of nutrition commodities, including monitoring distribution plans and ensuring accountability in their handling and reporting. The position also requires diligent oversight, reporting, and data management, including conducting spot checks, verifying program data, and preparing timely reports to inform decision-making and program improvement. The Programme Assistant will also contribute to accountability mechanisms, risk mitigation, and ensuring transparency and compliance with WFP's operational procedures and safeguarding principles. Finally, the role includes supporting visibility activities and facilitating external engagements such as donor missions and assessments.
Education: All educational documents must be verified and attested by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Appointment is contingent upon the submission of HEC-verified degrees.
Work experience: Requires a minimum of five years of progressive experience in nutrition, public health, maternal and child health, social protection, food security, community development, or related fields. Additionally, two to three years of specific experience supporting nutrition interventions, stunting prevention, CMAM, or maternal and child health programs is necessary. Demonstrated experience working with government bodies, development partners, NGOs, and community-based service structures is also essential.
