Job summary

Indus Hospital is seeking a Fire & Safety Officer to ensure a safe hospital environment by implementing fire safety standards, conducting inspections, managing emergency response activities, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and internal policies.

The role supports fire prevention, staff training, emergency drills, and maintenance of fire safety systems and equipment. The incumbent will participate in RRT activities and maintain accurate safety records.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in Fire & Safety.
  • Healthcare or similar environment experience is an added advantage.
  • CPR and safety training certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with fire, safety and emergency policies and regulations.
  • Conduct daily inspections of fire safety equipment and fire safety systems.
  • Perform regular safety rounds to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in investigations of fire incidents and emergencies and document findings.
  • Participate in Rapid Response Team activities for fire emergencies and evacuations.
  • Support installation, testing, operation and maintenance of fire safety systems and equipment.
  • Provide fire safety training and drills for hospital staff and outreach units.
  • Maintain records of inspections, incidents, drills, training, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in hazardous materials handling and PPE compliance as applicable.
  • Conduct risk assessments during emergencies and ensure appropriate safety measures.
  • Prepare and submit daily/monthly fire safety reports to senior management.
  • Carry out other fire and safety duties as assigned by management.

Job Description

The Fire & Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe environment across hospital facilities by implementing fire safety standards, conducting inspections, managing emergency response activities, and ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations and IHHN policies. The position also supports fire prevention, staff training, emergency drills, and maintenance of fire safety systems and equipment. The main responsibilities include.

  • Ensure compliance with fire, safety, security, environmental, and emergency response policies, SOPs, and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct daily inspections of fire safety equipment, including fire alarms, fire hydrants, fire hose reels, extinguishers, and other firefighting systems.
  • Conduct regular safety rounds to identify fire hazards and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Respond to and assist in the investigation of fire incidents and emergencies, including rescue, evacuation, and incident documentation.
  • Actively participate in the Rapid Response Team (RRT) for fire emergencies, rescue, evacuation, and other emergency situations.
  • Assist in the installation, testing, operation, and maintenance of fire safety systems and firefighting equipment.
  • Conduct regular fire safety training, awareness sessions, and emergency drills for hospital staff and outreach units.
  • Ensure proper inspection, refilling, maintenance, expiry-date monitoring, and record keeping of fire safety equipment.
  • Support the safe handling, tracking, and disposal of chemical, biological, radioactive, and other hazardous materials as applicable.
  • Conduct risk assessments during emergency operations and ensure appropriate safety measures and PPE requirements are followed.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, drills, training, equipment maintenance, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with IHHN Safety & Security Manual, SOPs, and Code of Conduct.
  • Prepare and submit daily/monthly fire safety reports and updates to senior management.
  • Perform other fire and safety-related duties as assigned by senior management.
