JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible to manage the team of nurses and promote a stimulating and caring environment by exhibiting high standards of professional practice, to enhance the physical ,emotional, social, intellectual needs of the people. Promotes and restores patient’s health by developing day- to – day management and long-term planning of the patient care area.
- Supervises and participates in the provision of general nursing care services.
- Ensures departmental activities and records adhere to regulatory requirements; evaluates the nursing care given and makes recommendations to develop action plans for improvements; assists with development and implementation of service standards.
- Supervise and guide nurses in providing quality patient care to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
- Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
- Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Maintains nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Participate and implement quality initiatives to promote highest possible standards of care.
- Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records.
- Manages the activities of the day by staff and patients and providers to assure a smooth, efficient patient flow through the units.
- Works with clinical lead in each department to accurately monitor all clinical logs for accuracy and completion.
- Ensure that equipment faults / maintenance problems are reported promptly to relevant individuals.
- To perform any other responsibility assigned by the management.
- Selects, orients, supervises and evaluates supervisors and clinical nurses; establishes standards of performance and maintains an evaluation system for clinical personnel.
- Assists with identifying educational needs for staff and establishes in-service/development programs; collaborates with professional and technical schools to enhance clinical education programs.
- Serves as liaison between staff and other areas within the facility at large, and as an advisor to other disciplines
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
- Provides information to patients and health care team by answering questions and requests.
- Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols; enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Supervising other functions such as Hostel management and teaching and training other nursing staff.
- Formulating philosophy and objectives; establishes standards of nursing care and nursing practice.
- Resolves patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Monitoring of performance & unit based indicators such as bed sore , mortality rate , patient fall, medication error, phlebitis etc.
- To measure the quick resolution of clients complaint.
- Equilibrium in responsibilities and accountabilities at any grade.
- To educate the family and client about the care treatment and hospital environment.
- To measure the high qualitative care that meets and exceed the needs / expectation of patient.
