Job summary

Ziauddinhospital in Nottingham is seeking a skilled nurse to promote and restore patient health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and providing physical and psychological support to patients and families.

The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating care; documenting medical records; participating in discharge planning; maintaining infection control; and supporting patients through examinations and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and restores patient health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients and families.
• Plans, implements and evaluates care given to assigned patients in an effective and organized manner.
• Provides for the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient and families.
• Maintains and updates all relevant patient documentations/ medical records as per hospital’s policy and procedures.
• Participates in the rehabilitation and discharge planning of patients / families.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient’s records.
• Follows the reporting mechanisms in the Nursing Department. Ensuring patient care issues are correctly and quickly reported.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Medication administration and storage procedure, and controlled substance regulations.
• Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
• Monitor patient progress and identifies any changes in status, acting on those changes to insure patient comfort and safety.
• Assist physicians and all healthcare professionals caring for patient, always giving a complete and though report on patient status at end of shift/ assignment.
• Perform routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all times.
• Participates in quality improvement activities within nursing department.
• Takes responsibility for the ward/ unit in the absence of the charge nurse as assigned by the nursing administration.
• Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, participating in team problem solving methods.
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatment.
