Job summary

TeamUp is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for US clients as a full-time independent contractor. This remote role requires exclusive commitment and reliable, on-time payroll delivery from a home setup.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of US payroll experience, familiarity with Gusto or ADP, strong communication, and the ability to work independently with tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing, maintain accurate payroll records, and ensure employees and/or clients are paid accurately and on time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage the end-to-end payroll process, including gathering payroll information, processing payroll, reviewing information for accuracy, and completing payroll close procedures
• Set up and maintain payroll systems for new and existing clients
• Manage and maintain client payroll accounts and ensure payroll information is accurate and up to date
• Process payroll accurately and according to established client schedules and deadlines
• Prepare, review, and maintain payroll reports, ensuring payroll data is complete and accurate
• Communicate directly with clients to gather payroll information, address questions, and resolve payroll-related concerns
• Provide bookkeeping support as needed, particularly during the initial stage of the role

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 1- 2 years of US payroll experience
• Strong understanding of payroll calculations, deductions, reconciliations, reporting, and payroll compliance.
• Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of Gusto, ADP, and/or Payroll Relief
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines accurately.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage payroll deadlines
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and seek support when necessary
• Bookkeeping experience or the ability to support basic bookkeeping responsibilities as needed is preferred.
