Job summary

Oriental Consultants Philippines, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to lead design and analysis for highway and bridge projects in the Philippines. The role requires licensing, 8+ years of relevant experience, and expertise in structural software.

The ideal candidate will coordinate with multiple engineering teams, prepare calculations and reports, and ensure compliance with international and local standards. Strong communication and project collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• Candidate must be a licensed/registered Civil Engineer.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, preferably in highway/road/bridge projects.
• Experience in structural analysis and design of bridges and highway structures.
• Experience with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel structures, foundations, retaining walls, culverts, and related structures.
• Knowledge of AASHTO/AASHTO LRFD, DPWH guidelines and international codes.
• Proficiency in structural analysis/design software: STAAD.Pro, MIDAS Civil, SAP2000, CSI Bridge.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D and engineering drawing preparation/review.
• Experience in preparing structural calculations, design reports, specs, and quantity estimates.
• Good communication, coordination, analytical, and technical report-writing skills.
• Experience in highway/bridge design consultancy projects is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for highway-related structures such as bridges and retaining walls.
• Prepare and review structural calculations, design criteria, technical reports, drawings, and specs.
• Develop structural designs following AASHTO LRFD, DPWH standards, and project requirements.
• Conduct structural analysis using engineering software and design tools.
• Review drawings to ensure safety, constructibility, and compliance.
• Coordinate with Highway Design, Geotechnical, Hydrology/Drainage, Geodetic, Traffic, and other teams.
• Provide input for highway alignment, bridge structures, and interchanges.
• Review and validate calculations and drawings prepared by others.
• Assist in preparing quantity and cost estimates, specs, and tender documents.
• Identify design issues and propose technical solutions or modifications.
• Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and client presentations.
• Ensure deliverables meet schedule and quality standards.
• Provide technical support during construction and site inspections as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Project Manager/Team Leader or Structural Design Lead.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform structural analysis and design for highway-related structures, including bridges, viaducts, retaining walls, culverts, foundations, and other structures.

2. Prepare and review structural calculations, design criteria, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.

3. Develop structural designs in accordance with AASHTO/AASHTO LRFD, DPWH standards, and applicable project requirements.

4. Conduct structural analysis using appropriate engineering software and design tools.

5. Review structural drawings and ensure that designs are safe, technically sound, constructible, and compliant with applicable standards.

6. Coordinate with the Highway Design, Geotechnical, Hydrology/Drainage, Geodetic, Traffic, and other engineering teams.

7. Provide technical input for the development of highway alignment, bridge structures, interchanges, and other infrastructure components.

8. Review and validate structural design calculations and drawings prepared by other engineers or design teams.

9. Assist in the preparation of quantity estimates, cost estimates, specifications, and tender documents related to structural works.

10. Identify structural design issues and recommend appropriate technical solutions and design modifications.

11. Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, coordination meetings, and presentations with the Client and other project stakeholders.

12. Ensure that all structural design deliverables are completed within the required schedule and quality standards.

13. Provide technical support during construction, site inspections, and responses to technical queries, when required.

14. Perform other related engineering duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Project Manager/Team Leader or Structural Design Lead.
