The Store Opening & Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operational readiness of new stores prior to opening. This role serves as the key coordinator among different departments to ensure that all systems, processes, equipment, supplies, documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place and ready for implementation before the store opens.
The role monitors the progress of pre-opening requirements, facilitates coordination among concerned departments, identifies potential operational gaps, and ensures that the new store is properly prepared to deliver smooth and efficient operations from Day 1.
New Store Opening & Operational Readiness
- Leads and coordinates the operational preparation and readiness activities for new store openings.
- Develops and monitors the pre-opening timeline, checklist, and requirements in coordination with concerned departments.
- Coordinates with Operations, HR, Finance, IT, Engineering, QA, Supply Chain, Training, Marketing, and other support departments to ensure all store requirements are completed on time.
- Ensures that store systems, processes, equipment, tools, supplies, and operational materials are available, installed, tested, and ready before opening.
- Monitors the completion and implementation of required SOPs, guidelines, forms, and operational procedures.
- Conducts regular readiness checks and coordinates necessary corrective actions for identified gaps.
- Escalates delays, risks, and unresolved concerns that may affect the store opening timeline.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Acts as the primary point person for coordinating pre-opening requirements across departments.
- Facilitates meetings and follow-ups with concerned teams to track the status of store opening requirements.
- Ensures clear communication of deadlines, responsibilities, and deliverables to all stakeholders.
- Coordinates the resolution of operational concerns and ensures that action items are properly addressed.
- Maintains an updated tracker of all pre-opening activities, requirements, and department deliverables.
Systems, SOP & Process Implementation
- Coordinates with concerned departments to ensure that operational systems and workflows are established and functional prior to store opening.
- Ensures that approved SOPs, policies, and procedures are available and properly communicated to the new store team.
- Identifies process gaps or inconsistencies during pre-opening activities and recommends improvements.
- Works with Operations and support departments to ensure that the new store follows established company standards and operating procedures.
- Assists in validating store processes through dry runs, simulations, and pre-opening operational checks.
Store Team & Pre-Opening Preparation
- Coordinates with Operations and Training teams regarding the readiness of the store team, including required training, orientation, and operational familiarization.
- Ensures that store personnel are informed of relevant procedures, systems, responsibilities, and operational requirements before opening.
- Supports the conduct of pre-opening activities, dry runs, and other activities necessary to prepare the team for actual store operations.
- Coordinates the completion of remaining requirements and ensures that critical concerns are resolved before opening day.
Opening & Post-Opening Support
- Provides operational support during the store opening period to ensure a smooth transition from pre-opening to regular operations.
- Monitors initial store operations and coordinates with concerned departments regarding issues encountered during the opening period.
- Documents operational concerns and ensures that corrective actions are properly endorsed and completed.
- Conducts post-opening reviews to identify areas for improvement and ensure that the store has transitioned successfully to regular operations.
- Recommends improvements to the new store opening process based on actual experience and recurring operational issues.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintains complete and updated records of store opening requirements, timelines, checklists, approvals, and completion status.
- Prepares regular progress reports and updates for management regarding the readiness of upcoming stores.
- Documents issues, action plans, and resolutions related to store openings.
- Ensures that all required operational documents are properly turned over to the store and concerned departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in store operations, retail, restaurant, hospitality, project coordination, or a similar role.
- Experience in new store openings, branch expansion, or project-based operations is highly preferred.
- Strong experience in cross-functional coordination and project monitoring.
- Knowledge of SOP development, process implementation, and operational standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, particularly Excel or Google Sheets.
- Willing to conduct site visits and work on-site during store pre-opening and opening activities.
- Willing to travel to different store locations as required.
