Job summary

Emapta is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to architect, secure, and optimize enterprise IT infrastructure for a global workforce. You’ll lead design and operations across Windows/Linux, on-prem and hybrid cloud (Azure/AWS), with a focus on reliability, security, and automation.

Responsibilities include managing hybrid cloud, IAM, patching, and governance while mentoring teammates and aligning with security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Relevant technical certifications in Microsoft, Azure, AWS, VMware, Cisco, Linux, or other enterprise infrastructure technologies are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core infrastructure services.
• Manage Linux-based systems, including system administration, security hardening, and performance optimization.
• Design, implement, and maintain hybrid cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and AWS.
• Oversee identity and access management solutions (MFA, conditional access) per standards.
• Monitor and patch management using remote tools; ensure system health and compliance.
• Collaborate with Network Engineering to resolve connectivity and firewall issues.

The Qualifications We Seek

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
• Relevant technical certifications in Microsoft, Azure, AWS, VMware, Cisco, Linux, or other enterprise infrastructure technologies are an advantage

Experience

• More than 4-5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or a related technical discipline
• At least 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex enterprise systems and infrastructure

Knowledge and Skills

• Advanced knowledge of enterprise systems architecture, infrastructure design, and systems integration
• Strong expertise in Windows and/or Linux environments, virtualization, storage, networking, directory services, and identity management
• Strong knowledge of cloud and hybrid infrastructure technologies, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or equivalent platforms
• Advanced understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, capacity planning, scalability, performance optimization, and system reliability
• Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills for complex technical issues
• Strong knowledge of system monitoring, automation, configuration management, patch management, and infrastructure lifecycle management
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or equivalent technologies
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security, system hardening, access controls, vulnerability management, and security best practices
• Ability to assess technical requirements, evaluate technology options, and develop scalable, secure, and sustainable infrastructure solutions

Your Daily Tasks

Systems & Infrastructure Management

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core infrastructure services to ensure system reliability, availability, and performance
• Manage Linux-based systems, including system administration, routine maintenance, security hardening, performance optimization, and complex issue resolution
• Design, implement, and maintain hybrid cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and/or AWS to ensure scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency
• Manage and optimize identity and access management solutions, including conditional access, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and security configurations in accordance with established standards
• Oversee endpoint deployment, system health, patch management, and compliance through ConnectWise Automate or other remote management and monitoring (RMM) tools
• Administer and optimize virtualization platforms, including VMware, Hyper-V, and Proxmox, to ensure efficient resource utilization, system availability, and platform stability
• Collaborate with Network Engineering teams to resolve connectivity issues and support firewall configurations, VPN access, and network infrastructure requirements through advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and network protocols
• Monitor infrastructure performance, capacity, and system health to identify potential risks and implement preventive measures that minimize outages and service disruptions

Automation & Engineering Excellence

• Develop, maintain, and optimize automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to streamline system administration, reduce manual tasks, and improve operational consistency
• Design and implement standardized system builds, configuration scripts, and deployment frameworks to improve repeatability, efficiency, and infrastructure consistency
• Identify and implement technical improvements to strengthen infrastructure reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability
• Evaluate infrastructure processes and recommend automation opportunities, tool enhancements, and technical solutions to improve service delivery and operational efficiency
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on automation, scripting, infrastructure engineering practices, and efficient operational workflows

Security & Compliance

• Implement and maintain security controls and best practices across server, endpoint, virtualization, and cloud environments in accordance with organizational security requirements
• Coordinate vulnerability remediation, access control reviews, patch management, and compliance activities to maintain secure and audit-ready infrastructure environments
• Investigate security incidents and system events, support incident response activities, and conduct root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and prevent recurrence
• Assess infrastructure configurations, identify security vulnerabilities, and recommend and implement corrective actions to strengthen the organization's technology environment

Troubleshooting & Service Delivery

• Serve as a senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure, operating system, virtualization, and cloud-related incidents that require advanced technical investigation
• Diagnose complex issues across operating systems, network connectivity, virtualization platforms, identity services, and cloud infrastructure to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions
• Collaborate with Service Desk, Network Engineering, DevOps, and Security teams to resolve cross-functional technical issues and minimize service disruptions
• Analyze recurring incidents and infrastructure performance issues to recommend preventive measures and long-term solutions that improve service reliability
• Support service delivery improvements through structured diagnostic methodologies, technical expertise, and established operational standards

Documentation & Collaboration

• Develop, maintain, and improve technical documentation, infrastructure standards, system configurations, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures
• Translate complex technical issues and proposed solutions into clear, actionable information for technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support teams on infrastructure administration, diagnostic techniques, and operational best practices
• Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and document technical resolutions, lessons learned, and repeatable solutions to strengthen team expertise and operational consistency
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to align infrastructure solutions with operational requirements, security standards, and business objectives

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Serve as a technical subject matter expert in systems engineering and provide advanced guidance on infrastructure architecture, configuration standards, diagnostic methodologies, and automation practices
• Guide and mentor engineers in resolving complex technical issues, applying engineering standards, and developing their technical capabilities
• Lead technical knowledge-sharing initiatives and contribute to the continuous development of team competencies and infrastructure operational maturity
• Recommend and implement improvements to engineering processes, infrastructure tools, monitoring practices, and operational workflows
• Contribute technical insights and recommendations to infrastructure planning, technology evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives to support scalable and sustainable systems operations

Other Responsibilities

• Perform additional administrative or non-administrative duties as assigned by authorized company representatives through written instructions or verbal directives
