Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong production experience in Go, Python, or C++.
• Experience designing and operating APIs, backend services, or distributed systems.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS or a comparable cloud platform, Docker, Linux, Git, and CI/CD workflows.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across multiple parts of a system.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical decisions without bottlenecks.
• Strong professional English for meetings, documentation, and updates.
• Experience using AI coding agents as part of a professional engineering workflow.

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior Software Engineer who can serve as the technical foundation of our new Baguio development team. This person will work directly with our Director of Innovation to turn product goals into well-designed, production-ready software. The role includes architecture and leadership responsibilities, but it is not a management‑only position. You will be expected to write code, solve difficult technical problems, review work, and help three mid‑level engineers grow into strong, independent contributors. As the office matures, this person should be capable of becoming its day‑to‑day technical leader.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and support software across our cloud platform, integrations, edge applications, and hardware‑connected systems.
• Translate product requirements and business problems into clear technical plans and manageable development milestones.
• Make practical architecture decisions that balance delivery speed, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, mentoring, and day‑to‑day guidance to the Baguio engineering team.
• Establish strong engineering practices for testing, documentation, deployment, monitoring, and incident follow‑up.
• Build and maintain integrations with Shopify and other commerce, inventory, and operational platforms.
• Troubleshoot problems across APIs, services, databases, local networks, device software, RFID readers, scanners, and printers.
• Work closely with product, support, operations, and US leadership to understand how the software is used in real customer environments.
• Use AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and similar tools to accelerate development, testing, investigation, refactoring, and documentation.
• Communicate progress, decisions, risks, and blockers clearly so that the team is never surprised by delays or technical issues.

About you

• Typically 7 or more years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent evidence of senior‑level technical ability.
• Strong production experience in at least one of the following languages: Go, Python, or C++.
• Demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar languages, frameworks, APIs, and technical domains quickly.
• Experience designing and operating APIs, backend services, integrations, or distributed systems.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills, preferably with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS or a comparable cloud platform, Docker, Linux, Git, and CI/CD workflows.
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills across multiple parts of a system.
• Experience reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and leading technical decisions without becoming a bottleneck.
• Strong professional English for meetings, technical discussions, documentation, and written updates.

Utah‑based technology company that helps retailers manage inventory using RFID. Our platform combines cloud software, web and mobile applications, third‑party integrations, and physical hardware such as RFID readers, scanners, antennas, and printers. We are establishing a permanent development office in Baguio City that will work closely with our product and engineering leadership in the Philippines and United States.
