Job summary

Second Talent is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer for our growing Baguio development team. You will work directly with the Director of Innovation to turn product goals into production-ready software, with architecture and leadership responsibilities, while writing code and mentoring three mid-level engineers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent senior-level ability.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or C++.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar languages, frameworks, APIs quickly.
• Experience designing and operating APIs, backend services, or distributed systems.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Linux, Git, and CI/CD workflows.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving across multiple parts of a system.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and support software across cloud, edge, and hardware-connected systems.
• Translate product requirements into technical plans and milestones.
• Make architecture decisions balancing speed, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance to the Baguio team.
• Establish engineering practices for testing, documentation, deployment, monitoring, and incident follow-up.
• Build and maintain integrations with Shopify and other platforms.
• Troubleshoot APIs, services, databases, networks, RFID devices, scanners, and printers.
• Collaborate with product, support, operations, and US leadership.
• Use AI coding agents to accelerate development, but review all output.
• Communicate progress, decisions, risks clearly to avoid surprises.
• Evaluate new technologies and vendor SDKs through prototyping.
