Job Purpose
The Senior Executive, Operations is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of vessel and cargo operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of port and shipping activities. The role actively manages day-to-day operational matters, monitors vessel and cargo movements, and supports the achievement of service and performance targets. In addition to operational responsibilities, the incumbent provides day-to-day guidance and supervision to the outport team, ensuring adherence to operational procedures, regulatory requirements, and company standards. Working closely with internal stakeholders, terminals, port authorities, shipping agents, vessel operators, and customers, the role contributes to operational excellence through effective coordination, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor vessel schedules, cargo movements, and operational activities to ensure timely execution of vessel and cargo operations while maintaining compliance with maritime, customs, port, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate daily operational activities with terminals, port authorities, shipping agents, vessel operators, customers, and service providers to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Monitor operational performance and proactively identify risks, capacity constraints, and service disruptions; implement corrective actions and support process improvement and cost-control initiatives.
- Prepare and maintain operational reports, vessel documentation, cargo forecasts, and performance records to support operational planning and decision-making.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, work coordination, coaching, and guidance to the outport team, ensuring productivity, service quality, and compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support workforce planning, employee development, and performance monitoring while serving as the first point of escalation for operational issues within the team.
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, port authorities, terminals, shipping agents, vessel operators, and service providers.
- Prepare management reports, operational analyses, forecasts, and performance metrics to support business planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other operations-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management from time to time.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3-7 years of experience in shipping, liner operations, vessel operations, logistics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of vessel operations, cargo handling, port procedures, and shipping documentation.
- Familiarity with Dangerous Goods (DG) and special cargo operations is an advantage.
- Strong coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
